What better way to enjoy the last few weeks of summer than by having al fresco drinks or dinner at one of the local cafés? Luckily, there is no shortage of outdoor dining options in Stamford. Here are some of the popular restaurants that offer outdoor seating in the downtown, the perfect spot for people watching and bar hopping.

Barcelona

222 Summer St., Stamford, CT (203) 348-4800

This quintessential Spanish wine and tapas bar is a place to see and be seen. Intended to evoke the mood of the bustling Las Ramblas Boulevard in Barcelona, the open-air veranda is a great venue for people watching. Perfect for a group dinner or an intimate date night, the delectable tapas are ideal for sharing. Start with a glass of wine from their extensive wine list or their famous sangria. Some menu highlights include chicken empanadas, patatas bravas, grilled lamb chops and jamon and manchego croquettes.

Barrique

188 Bedford St, Stamford, CT (203) 357-9526

Barrique exudes a decidedly sophisticated air and draws an equally stylish crowd. Its dark wood tables and white washed cafe chairs give off a classic French bistro vibe. The outdoor area also boasts high top tables that are perfect for evening drinks. If you are looking for a more intimate setting for quiet conversation, this is the place. Menu highlights include classic French fare such as organic roasted chicken, mussels and steak frites. They also offer a variety of small plates for sharing such as lobster macaroni & cheese, escargot and petite bistro burgers.

Capriccio Cafe

189 Bedford St., Stamford, CT (203) 356-9819

In the heart of the bustling intersection of Bedford and Spring streets, Cappricio Café is always packed with an energetic crowd. Signature bright green awnings and sleek white chairs adorn the outdoor space. This is the perfect spot for a mid-day lunch, dinner or drinks. Go for casual Italian fare such as salads, paninis, brick oven pizzas and pastas with a modern twist.

EOS

490 Summer St., Stamford, CT (203) 569-6250

If you are looking for authentic Greek cuisine, it doesn’t get any better than this. EOS is nestled on a quiet stretch of Summer Street with a small, yet nice outdoor seating area. Great for lunch with colleagues or friends, the Horiatiki salad, watermelon salad and grilled chicken and gyro pita wraps can’t be missed. For dinner, try the grilled octopus, lamb sliders, and pastitsio.

Volta

30 Spring St, Stamford, CT (203) 883-8841

Perfect for a casual lunch, Volta serves up a variety of salads, paninis, and crepes. Their weekend brunch is always a scene, which does not come as a surprise because the omelets, crepes and French toast are amazing. Be sure to save room for their gelato, which is made in house.
