From the Editor: All The Best

You voted! We counted! Read the results! As soon as the polls opened to our annual reader survey Best of the Gold Coast Connecticut, you made your picks known. You reminded your friends and neighbors to single out their favorites. And it shows. Our readers turned out nearly 10,000 votes, an amazing record for us, for you and for Stamford.

I love asking people to take a look at who grabbed top honors. Some are well-known choices, while others are unexpected surprises. All come together in a manner that celebrates Fairfield County. Some of you may disagree with a few selections, but if so many are raving about a place, there must be something to it. Don’t you think?

The process is a win-win for Stamford. You’ll notice that our city had its best showing yet in the seven-year history of the poll (not too bad if you consider that Stamford Magazine has been around for almost three). And our Best of Stamford feature gives us a chance to acknowledge the winners who may have come close in the Gold Coast category, but definitely rallied closer to home.

All together, what we gain here is a trusty guide to the area. Stick this magazine in the car. I promise you’ll be referring to it all summer for new places to check out. In keeping with the “best of” theme, this issue also features the all-star team of coaches who will be managing the sports programs at Chelsea Piers Connecticut. You’ll recognize some names, so imagine our excitement when we started meeting them several months ago. Hearing about their achievements in their respective sports, and learning about the training, instruction and league play they plan to execute with the use of CPCT’s state-of-the-art amenities, only added to our anticipation for the facility’s July 9 opening.

As we put this feature together, we referred to it as the “dream team” story, and we did so to remain focused on the services management at CPCT wants to deliver to Fairfield County, already a hub of competitive athletics. In no time we will be able to enjoy this fitness center, about which we’ve heard plenty. And soon we can boast a site where athleticism will be developed and nurtured by professionals who know from experience exactly how to just do it. Their medals, awards and credentials only prove
