On a bright spring day at the Hyatt Regency in Old Greenwich, Planned Parenthood of Southern New England held its annual luncheon, honoring Joan Tweedy of Darien with the PPSNE Community Impact Award.
Cochaired by Erica Buchsbaum, Donna Moffly, Nancie Schwarzman, Karen Taggart and Alyson Walker, with honorary chairman Leslie Bhutani, the event drew more than 500 supporters from around Fairfield County. Actor Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues, gave a powerful performance from her play, and highlighted her global work for abused women while commending Planned Parenthood for its leadership in health care.
By the time the attendees had finished their Cobb salads and cupcakes, close to $300,000 had been raised to help PPSNE serve its 70,000 clients.
