The Green Zone

Hundreds came out for the first ever It’s My Park Day, an outdoor family celebration at Mill River Park that featured balloon sculpture, face-painting, a climbing wall, glitter tattoos, a bouncy house and pumpkin decorating, plus displays from Gray Organschi, designers of several major park features, and the landscape design firm Olin Partnership.

The day’s events included a groundbreaking ceremony for the first development phase of Mill River Park. Speakers included Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Senator Richard Blumenthal, Mayor Michael A. Pavia, Dudley Williams of GE Asset Management, Arthur Selkowitz, chairman of the Mill River Collaborative and Don Brownstein, the collaborative’s campaign chairman.

Supporters and major capital campaign contributors were recognized during a reception the evening before at the Stamford home of board members Carl and Mary Shanahan.
