Women’s Business Development Council

Susan Sobbott, Barbara Kasoff, Amy Davis and Lisa Price

The Women's Business Development Council hosted its annual Business Breakfast at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa with a program titled “Connect-Grow-Influence: Women With Impact” that focused on the important influence women business owners have as decision makers, change agents and economic influencers.

Moderator Chrystia Freeland, an editor with Thomson Reuters Digital, led the panel discussion. Others rounding out the panel were Susan Sobbott, president of American Express OPEN; Barbara Kasoff, president of Women Impacting Public Policy; Lisa Price, founder of Carol's Daughter; and WBDC client Amy Davis, founder of Kiss-u Corps LLC. Connecticut First Lady Cathy Malloy, CEO of the Greater Hartford Arts Council, was the event’s chairwoman.

A discussion of the current landscape for women entrepreneurs and how leadership in Washington and on Wall Street will shape future policies and economic opportunities was also part of the agenda.

The 2012 WBDC Deb Ziegler Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence was awarded to Liz Gilbert, owner of Gilbert’s Gourmet Goodies.
