SoundWaters presented Governor Dannel P. Malloy with the Founder’s Award during the seventeenth annual Tall Ships Ball to recognize his commitment to education, to Long Island Sound and his promotion of environmental issues as governor. As Mayor of Stamford, Governor Malloy shared SoundWaters vision for the creation of a coastal education center at Cove Island Park and was instrumental in supporting SoundWaters’ renovation of the former Holly House. More than 400 guests attended the gala at Harbor Point Waterfront in Stamford.
In May, SoundWaters will honor Pitney Bowes with the second annual Founder’s Award at the eighteenth annual Tall Ships Ball at Stamford Yacht Club. The award recognizes Pitney Bowes’s legacy of corporate community service and involvement in Stamford, its promotion of environmental responsibility, support of SoundWaters and leadership in upholding and improving the economic, educational and environmental qualities of our region. Governor Malloy will present the award.
The 2013 Tall Ships Ball will host over 350 guests from the region. The eighty-foot Schooner SoundWaters will be at the yacht club for an evening of celebration. All proceeds will support SoundWaters environmental science programs and assist in providing hands-on programs to students from underserved communities, ensuring that every child, regardless of family circumstance, has the opportunity to explore science in the real world.
