New Covenant House of Hospitality
Third Annual Harvest Table Fundraiser
Panelists Marina Marchese, Linda Kavanaugh and Jackie Ekholm
More than 200 people attended the third annual Harvest Table fundraiser for New Covenant House of Hospitality, which featured cooking demonstrations by local chefs and restaurateurs, tips for themed entertaining by decorating professionals, a silent auction and a luncheon.
This year’s event at the Italian Center exceeded expectations by raising $40,000 to help feed the hungry at NCH, which provides three meals a day, every day, through its soup kitchen, food pantry and breakfast-to-go programs.
A highlight of the event was a panel discussion between food-industry entrepreneurs Marina Marchese, honey sommelier, author, beekeeper and founder of Red Bee Honey in Weston; and Jackie Ekholm, founder and owner of Moo Kids Chocolate in Cos Cob. Both talked about ingredients, packaging, outsourcing and the inspirations that propelled them to create their specialty businesses. Linda Kavanaugh, owner of MaxEx Public Relations of Stamford, moderated the discussion.
