The creator of Beetle Bailey, the lazy Army private in the popular comic strip, recently received accolades from top military brass and others on his ninetieth birthday. Stamford’s Mort Walker celebrated with family, friends and Hearst executives at a roast and toast event at Greenwich Country Club. Senator Richard Blumenthal presented him with a certificate of appreciation. The never lazy Mort still writes and draws every day when he is not playing golf or spending time with Catherine, his wife of twenty-seven years.
