On the lookout for a Valentine’s Day gift? Check out Jewels For Hope, each handcrafted by mother-and-daughter duo Sandy and Stevie D’Andrea of Stamford. It all began when Sandy, while caring for her mother who was suffering from Parkinson’s disease, taught herself how to make jewelry to pass the time. It was then, she thought, “Why not sell our jewelry and donate funds to charity?” Enter Stevie, Sandy’s oldest and a 2010 Fashion Institute of Technology grad, who helped take the business to the next level. Sandy and Stevie donate ten percent of the net profits from sales of their bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings to charities like the American Cancer Society and the MS Society. After barely three years, their gems have been spotted on celebs like Jennifer Love Hewitt, and have been part of luxe gift lounges at award shows, including the Golden Globes and the Emmys. Their pieces—with just the right amount of sparkle—prove that you can look good and do good at the same time.
